You may think plastic surgery is expensive, but there are some things you can do that will make it cheaper, according to a new study.

The researchers, who are from the University of New South Wales and the University at Albany, looked at a wide range of surgical procedures and concluded that plastic surgery was cheaper in Australia than it is in other countries.
“In a nutshell, the cost of plastic surgery in Australia is much less than the cost in most countries,” they wrote in the study.
“Australia has some of the lowest rates of hospitalisations and surgical complications in the world.”
The authors suggest that Australians spend about $2,000 on plastic surgery and have about $7,000 for a general operation.
This is on top of other health-care costs such as prescription drugs, dental care and vision, and the cost for treating injuries and surgeries.
However, the study said there was little evidence to suggest that this was linked to better outcomes for patients.
“The primary purpose of this study was to provide evidence that patients had higher success rates with cosmetic procedures compared to other procedures when they had a high-quality cosmetic surgeon, such as an optometrist or plastic surgeon,” the researchers wrote.
“We found that patients who had cosmetic surgeons had lower rates of surgery complications, higher surgical success, less pain and a lower overall cost of care than patients without cosmetic surgeons.”
The study found that cosmetic surgeons who received the most money were those with a combined experience of $1.4 million or more.
They were more likely to have cosmetic surgery that included “enhancements” such as liposuction, breast augmentation, and facial surgery.
Dr Rebecca Taylor, a consultant plastic surgeon who runs a plastic surgery clinic in Melbourne, said it was difficult to compare cosmetic surgery in the country to other countries because of differences in the way they pay for surgery.
“I think what’s important about the study is that it provides some good evidence that cosmetic surgery is more affordable here than in many other countries,” she said.
While cosmetic surgery costs are a concern, it is not the only thing people are paying for.
A recent study found people spent $6,000 more on hair than they would for a similar procedure.
The authors of the new study said the higher costs may be down to other factors, such a lack of a Medicare levy, or the fact that there is a shortage of cosmetic surgeons in Australia.
