Posted October 24, 2018 09:20:53 The procedure for removing the eye socket can be a life-changing experience for many.
But if the procedure goes wrong, the patient’s vision will be permanently damaged.
In this case, the eye surgery took place in February 2018.
A family in China took the drastic step of removing a part of the eye using a needle and using a surgical blade to remove the entire socket.
The family in this case is in their late 60s.
They were told their eye socket was going to be removed after it was damaged during surgery.
They told the Chinese news outlet Thepaper.cn the eye was broken during the operation.
The family did not want to be identified.
However, they are now in a state of shock after the news came out.
“We have not been able to move our eyes or see our family members because the eye has been so badly damaged,” said a woman in her 80s.
The patient told Thepaper that the surgery had gone wrong because of the surgeon’s negligence.
She said the surgeon left a large wound on the eye, leaving it to swell with blood.
“He used a needle to poke holes in the socket and then cut a piece of plastic that was inserted in a hole in the eye.
He did not explain what happened and we did not understand what he meant by ‘damage’,” the woman said.
When asked about the risks of the procedure, the woman also said, “My husband and I have been in a bad situation and my eyesight is not good enough.
We have no money to get plastic surgery anymore and we are not sure if I will ever be able to see our children again.”
A spokesperson for the Department of Health said the patient has been referred to a local hospital for further medical assessment.
